Event date:
Andrew McEwan is raising money for Chris's House (Scotland) and The Electrical Industries Charity Limited
On the 17th April 1996, I lost my mum to suicide. A loss like that never leaves you. It shapes who you are, how you love and how you show up for people around you.
Next year will mark 30 years and to honour her, I’m going to be taking on an extreme challenge. As many burpees as possible in 24 hours. No sleep, no shortcuts. Just one movement over and over for an entire day.
Why burpees? because they’re the most brutal thing I can think of. They will push me to my limit, but also serve as a reminder that nothing will ever come close to the pain of losing someone you love.
This challenge is for my mum, for anyone who has lost someone to suicide and for anyone who is silently struggling right now. You are not alone.
I’ll be raising money for two charities close to my heart:
The Electrical Industries Charity which offers vital services to those in the electrical energy industries ensuring no one faces life’s challenges alone
And
Chris’s House - a charity local to me that has been set up to offer a safe environment where people in or approaching suicidal crisis can have a safe place to go and get professional support.
Over the next 12 months I'll be tracking my training as I prepare. Please feel free to follow along my training journey by following - docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14AfRRe58iNKI1gjxwyJU-Du1IrULnRtC/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=109184410746909048040&rtpof=true&sd=true
Hopefully we can help some people with this.
