Jamie Shoker is raising money for The Heera Foundation
Seek help in times of darkness
I’m teaming up with The Heera Foundation to raise awareness for prevention of young suicide. And what better way to do this than run a 60km ultra marathon through the mountains of the Lake District.
When coming across this challenge I knew I wanted to work with a charity relatable to me. Knowing how far I’ve come to now signing up to run ultra marathon to raise awareness and help fund suicide prevention teams is a rewarding feeling. The hard truth is, the thought of ending your life is unfathomable to many people. But I’m doing this to create awareness to people who haven’t felt this way or know someone in that situation. By developing foundations and vulnerabilities within yourself, you’ll know theres an entire world to help you through these stages.
Do I want to run 60km with 3000 meters of elevation for approximately 10hours. Nope. Am I going to. Yes. Everyone 1 of the 60 kilometres means something to me. As I said before this is “more than miles”. I’m running this for you. I’m running this for the person not looking forward to tomorrow. There’s a countless amount of things we go through in life whether it’s loss, heart break, regret etc. The facts are nobody else is going to pick you up out of this state of mind. Things such as therapy, help lines, your friends and family are your support network. Non of that is beneficial unless you’re willing to help yourself too. This is a key lesson I have learnt. I’m an advocate of doing good brings good, I’m hoping by putting myself through these struggles it can help a least 1 person watching.
Your donations will be massively appreciated and I can guarantee it’ll drive even more to crawl across that finish line if I have to. Give a man a purpose and he will crawl across broken glass to reach it. Here’s my purpose.
The solution is not suicide.
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto The Heera Foundation.
