My story

Jim and I are brothers and we have shared many adventures together, including 30 years worth of visits to Bendrigg Lodge (A Residential Outdoor Activity Centre, nr Kendal, Specialising In High Quality Courses For People With Physical And Learning Disabilities Or Disadvantaged.) Jim has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and epilepsy.
In 2005, after 10 years of visits to Bendrigg we decided that we wanted to raise some sponsorship and awareness of Bendrigg as it is such a special place and as a charity relies heavily on donations and fundraising to support it's work. Bendrigg had entered a team in the Great North Run for the previous few years as a fundraising event and we joined them. I pushed Jim round the course in a special off road wheelchair that we borrowed from Bendrigg. Not only did we have a ball, but we raised a good sum of sponsorship ..... and Jim wanted 'more'.
Now after completing 13 GNRs together and raising a good deal of sponsorship, we were looking for a new challenge. I had completed a few sprint triathlons as a guide for visually impaired athletes in the previous few years and It seemed like a good time to introduce Jim to the joys of Triathlon. This we did at the 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 Super Hero Triathlon (after two cancelled events). and he loved it. So here we go again!! Jim has always enjoyed the atmosphere of these big events and we arel really excited to be coming back again!
This year we are joined by Lindsey who met Jim through his supported living accommodation and kindly agreed to come and join in the fun.
We are also supporting and trying to raise awareness of a second charity this time around. Vision of Adventure is a small charity that supports visually impaired adults to achieve some fantastic outdoor adventures. Based from the South Lakes, they are another amazing organisation, and as a charity rely heavily on donations and fundraising to support their work.

We would really appreciate donations of absolutely any amount to either or both charities.

Inspiration on the day will as always be driven by our mum’s always held opinion that Jim's condition should never stand in the way of him having a go at anything he wants to try. An attitude that has always and still does inspire us all!
