Our story

This is stage five of the 10000 mile challenge raising money for UK Mountain Rescue Teams. Stage five is in support of Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team and I aim to have walked 8000 miles by 21st September 2024 and finish on Scafell, ascending via the West Wall.
This stage is in Memory of Billy Wells a good friend who sadly passed away in September 2022, Billy's Lovely Daughter Rachel, an avid walker will be joining me on the challenge.

Let's give you the context of the 10000 Mile challenge. Over the last few years the Trail Walking Club which I am the team leader as raised over £33k for Mountain Rescue in England, Wales and Scotland

We have raised this money via multiple charity walks and martial arts seminars. The 2020 event was not possible due to COVID19 restrictions.

So at the start of the pandemic, I decided to walk every day until I reach 1000 miles and finish on the top of Scafell Pike (England Highest Mountain). I am doing this in aide of Wasdale Mountain Rescue and in memory of my mum and dad who both passed away in Late 2019 and Early 2020 only 70 days apart.
Along side this, each stage will be in memory of a friend who passed away, whilst I was doing the challenge.

The 1000 Miles was reached on the 25th December 2020 (Christmas Day) but sadly due to COVID19 restrictions we could not meet the team on top of Scafell Pike.

So i decided to extend the deadline to September 18th 2021 and Target another 2000 miles and then we Just kept going. Then on the 24th September 2022 we summited Hellvelyn at the 4000 mile marker in support of Patterdale MRT and on the 15th April 2023 we summited Cairngorm in support of Skye MRT at the half way point of 5000 miles. With the half way point well behind us we then summited Snowdon on the 7th October 2023 at the 6000 mile mark.

So the aim now is to reach 10000 miles raising money for a different Mountain Rescue Team. So this is Stage 5, the 8000 mile Marker in support of Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team and we will summit Scafell via the Westwall on 21st September 2024.
