Jon James is raising money for Western Beacons Mountain Search and Rescue Team

My story

On the 22nd May 2011 I will be taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival by running my first ever marathon. I'm undertaking this latest challenge to assist in raising much needed funds for Western Beacons Mountain Search & Rescue Team.

W.B.M.S & R.T provide a 24 hour 365 day a year service to the communities of Mid, West and South Wales and its members are all unpaid volunteers from many walks of life who offer a professional search and rescue service to the police and ambulance services.

The team regularly uses its skills in rural and semi urban environments assisting in technical rescues and searching for missing vulnerable persons.

The team was established in 1964 and is a registered charity #500652. Over the last five years the team has averaged over 50 call outs per year. We rely solely on the goodwill of the public and grant funding organisations for donations to sustain the general running costs which are annually around £15,000 to maintain team equipment and to keep the team in operation.

So please support me in my fundraising as I approach my first ever marathon and assist in raising funds for this worthy cause.

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Western Beacons Mountain Search and Rescue Team.
