The Dementia Experience - 50km Wadi Rum & Petra Adventure

The Team taking on this extraordinary 50km desert trek across Wadi Rum in Jordan—are going to have far more than just a physical adventure.

Many of those stepping into the desert are carers or close family members of people living with dementia. For them, this challenge means months of training to build strength and stamina, while still providing daily care and support at home. It means carefully arranging respite for their loved ones, often for the first extended time. It means digging deep physically and emotionally — and allowing themselves something carers rarely take: time for themselves.

Every mile walked in the heat and sand represents resilience, love, and determination. By donating, you are not only supporting people living with dementia — you are standing behind the carers who give so much of themselves every single day. We see some of these loved ones and carers at our Dementia Experience clubs & events and admire them so much for digging deep on a daily basis whilst staying so positive. Witnessing their person slip away is such an ordeal and the rewiring required to survive cannot be underestimated. This adventure is going to recharge their batteries and provide them with a chance to download and process the pain into a more meaningful purpose.
