My story

Why I'm Running
I'm not a runner. Ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you my idea of a good time is finding a going to the cinema, a good restaurant, a long walk in nature, or a solid afternoon of shopping. Lacing up trainers and running 21 kilometres is not, and has never been, on that list.
So why am I doing this?
Because of Mili.
Mili is my older sister, and she has Cerebral Palsy, a condition she was born with due to complications during birth. Growing up, I watched her navigate a world that wasn't always designed with her in mind. A world that sometimes underestimated her, that put up barriers she had no say in facing. And I watched her face all of it with more resilience, humour, and determination than most people I know.
Mili didn't choose her challenges. But she shows up for them every single day.
The least I can do is show up for a race.

The UP Movement is a charity that supports adults with Cerebral Palsy and their families, and everything they do is a reminder that with the right support, people with CP can live full, ambitious, joyful lives. Just like Mili does.

So I'll be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon, on behalf of everyone who faces the world on harder terms than most, and does it anyway.

If you can donate, even a small amount, it means the world to me and to Mili. And if you see me struggling on the course, please don't laugh. Or do. Mili definitely will.

No soy corredora. Preguntale a cualquiera que me conozca y te va a decir que mi idea de pasarla bien es ir al cine, un buen restaurant, o irme de shopping. Ponerme las zapatillas y correr 21 kilómetros no está, ni estuvo nunca, en esa lista.

¿Entonces por qué lo estoy haciendo?
Por Mili.

Mili es mi hermana mayor y tiene Parálisis Cerebral, una condición que tiene desde su nacimiento debido a complicaciones durante el parto. Creciendo, la vi moverse por un mundo que no siempre fue diseñado pensando en ella. Un mundo que a veces la subestimó, que le puso obstáculos que ella no eligió. Y la vi hacerle frente a todo eso con más resiliencia, humor y determinación que la mayoría de las personas que conozco.

El UP Movement es una organización que apoya a adultos con Parálisis Cerebral y a sus familias, y todo lo que hacen es un recordatorio de que, con el apoyo adecuado, las personas con PC pueden vivir vidas plenas y llenas de alegría. Igual que Mili.

Así que voy a correr el Royal Parks Half Marathon, por todas las personas que enfrentan el mundo en condiciones más difíciles que la mayoría, y lo hacen igual.

Si podés donar, aunque sea un poquito, significa muchísimo para mí y para Mili. Y si me ves sufriendo en la carrera, por favor no te rías. O reíte. Mili seguro lo va a hacer.
