Julie and Andy Coast to Coast Challenge May 2014

Event date: 22nd May 2014

Julie Bullough is raising money for North West Air Ambulance

My story

After planning and failing to do the Coast to Coast in 2011 due to illness, we were inspired again by our friends John and Karen Gold to give it another go. We have been training regularly over the past six weeks and have not done three rides around the Trough of Bowland plus 50 miles to Preston via Brockholes and home.
It wasn't the plan to make this a charity fund raising challenge but many people have asked us which Charity we are doing it for. We have, therefore, decided that, if people want to support our ride by donating to a charity we would like that to be North West Air Ambulance.
This is a local charity which has been flying life-saving missions throughout the North West region since 1999.
With two helicopters flying seven days a week, 365 days a year from bases at Royal Preston Hospital and University Hospital of South Manchester, Wythenshawe, they cover 5,500 square miles and a population of around eight million people. On average the North West Air Ambulance is called out five times a day, rising up to ten in the summer. It costs in excess of £4.2 million per year to maintain both aircraft, but with almost no central government or lottery funding, they rely on the generosity of our supporters.

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto North West Air Ambulance.
