Juneau’s SNUG Fundraising Parade

As many of you know, our beautiful daughter, Juneau, was born 6 weeks early due to pre-eclampsia. Weighing only 3lb 7oz, she was tiny but strong. We spent nearly 5 weeks in North Devon Hospital - where Juneau lived in the Special Baby Care Unit (SCBU) and I lived in a parent room on the maternity ward.

It was the most challenging time of our lives, full of unknowns and grief over everything not going quite as expected. It was an isolating time, as it felt like no one else understood what was going on or how it felt to have a neonatal baby. Whilst on SCBU, we met the lovely Kelly from SNUG - a charity supporting parents who have a baby on a neonatal unit. This peer support was invaluable and extremely important to our recovery as parents, making sense of our journey and our feelings.

Juneau has just turned 1, and what a year it’s been! She is still little in size, but wow is she feisty! She is bold, amazing, funny, warm, gentle, playful, and just the most precious person. We are so grateful for her every day 💜

SNUG continue to support neonatal parents - in hospitals, online, and face to face. We have been going to the SNUG playgroup for several months and it has been such an important place for us to socialise, share stories and feel understood by other parents who went through similar things.

SNUG are hosting a fundraising event on 29th June - a fancy dress parade and prize raffle being held at Instow Cricket Club / 11am. Myself and Juneau will be joining the parade so please support us and help raise some money for this truly amazing charity x
