My story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. I will be returning to Nepal again this November with a team of fantasticvolunteers with the charity Cricket Without Boundaries to deliver grassroots cricket coaching to schools and communities.

Our team of 8 volunteers cover our own cost of flights and any expenses, however your kind donations allow us to purchase cricket equipment for the children, improve ground facilities and run ICC Certified coach education sessions for existing and new coaches. It is central to our work that local coaches are empowered to lead coaching sessions after our trip.

This will be our third volunteer project in the Koshi and Madhesh province in Nepal. This year, we aim to create even further opportunities for girls to get involved in the game with implementation into new regions and to anticipate the growing demand for girls’ school cricket. Last year we coached 2,500 children with 50% girls receiving coaching in 2 weeks. We hope to go beyond this number this time.

Gender discrimination is widespread in Nepal, limiting girls’ participation in cricket and other aspects of life. As identified by the girls in our Cricket Changemakers organisation, participation in cricket in itself is a powerful step for girls to claim their rights in supporting transformative change and builds their confidence through cricket.

We will continue to promote gender equality through workshops and increase the visibility of girls’ cricket through competitions and matches and this year, also aim to actively and positively engage other key people, including boys, teachers and parents in supporting transformative change.
