My story
As many of you know, my gorgeous mum, Karen, was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia in November 2024.
It’s been quite a journey since then, but from the very beginning Dementia Forward have been there for us. They’ve supported us through home visits, social activities, and simply being there to listen, helping us navigate something that felt overwhelming at first. Thanks to them, we’ve never felt alone.
Dementia Forward is a Yorkshire-based charity doing incredible work every single day, from running helplines and cafés to organising social groups that bring real connection and joy.
One of Mum’s highlights each week is the Dementia Forward singing group held every Thursday at Christchurch. It’s social, uplifting, and brings a genuine sense of happiness, something that means so much to both me and my Mum.
On 17th May, George and I will be running the Hackney Half Marathon to raise funds to support this amazing charity and the vital work they do.
Any donation, no matter how small, would mean a great deal. It will help ensure that other families, just starting out on this journey, receive the same support, care, and kindness that we’ve been so fortunate to have.
Thank you so much for your support.
Kay
