Keith's Down's Heart Group Fund Raising Page

I am helping to raise money for the Down's Heart Group (DHG). They do some fantastic work raising awareness of Congenital Heart Defects in children with Down's Syndrome. They also provide a good deal of support for parents like myself and my wife Dawn. Our youngest daughter had open heart surgery recently to close her two Atrial Septal Defects. During the operation, (which involved stopping her heart for three hours) they found and closed a third. Natasha was intensive care on a life support machine for a very nerve racking 24 hours. We found the DHG a valuable source of information and help both in the years before and at the time of her surgery. We found that knowing what to expect in advance made it easier to cope with at the time.

The photograph is of me on the "beach" at Wateredge on the banks of Lake Windermere. On September 10th 2011 I Kayaked the entire length of Lake Windermere in a small sit on top Kayak, normally designed for sea kayaking. The next day I kayaked across the lake backwards at the widest point.
