Leicestershire 10k for En-Fold

En-Fold is a local charity providing support to families in Northamptonshire where 1 or more members have a diagnosis of autism.
Sadly many parents are left feeling lost and unsupported when their child is diagnosed with autism, or is on the diagnostic pathway. Information online is often conflicting, overwhelming, and often not from accredited sources. NHS support is extremely minimal, leaving parents to try and navigate this new world alone as they seek to understand and best support their child. This is where En-Fold can help. They offer 4-6 sessions covering a range of topics, along with a mentoring and sign posting service. En-Fold's sessions cover what autism is, how to support sensory needs, handling meltdowns, assistance with form filling and applying for support your child is entitled to & education health care plans amongst other things. Whilst each session covers a set topic, each one is tailored to understand the needs of your child. I can't stress enough how invaluable it is as a parent to talk to someone who understands your child's needs, and is able to offer practical support in a largely broken system.
Many of you will know that I used to be a keen runner, however the last few years due to a knee injury, work pressures and babies, running and exercise in general has largely dropped off my radar. It's time for that to change, and what better motivation than raising money for this wonderful charity.
