My story

On 22nd March, I’ll be taking on the Reading Half Marathon to raise money for DEBRA — a charity dedicated to supporting people living with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a painful genetic skin condition that causes the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch.

EB is often described as having “butterfly skin” because it is as fragile as a butterfly’s wings. For those living with it, everyday activities most of us take for granted can be incredibly painful and challenging. Even simple daily activities, such as tying their shoes or zipping up a jacket, can cause painful blisters to form on their hands. Small, routine tasks like these affect them every day and can prevent them from carrying out basic activities. DEBRA provides vital care, support services, and funds pioneering research to improve treatments and ultimately find a cure.

Training for a half marathon is tough, but it’s nothing compared to the daily challenges faced by people with EB. Every mile I run is for them.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean a huge amount. Your support will help fund life-changing care and bring hope to families affected by EB.

Thank you so much for your support! 🏃🏽
