⚡️London Landmarks Half Marathon⚡️

Event date: 2nd April 2023

Mark Haywood is raising money for Pitt Hopkins UK

My story

⚡️The amazing Ron Hooker has decided to take part in the London Landmark Half Marathon in memory of Lila Haywood, at the same time he will be raising money for her chosen charity; Pitt-Hopkins; (pitthopkins.org.uk or pitthopkins.org.uk/general-info/pitt-hopkins-information-film/).

⚡️The event;
The London Landmarks Half Marathon is a closed road, central London run and is the only half marathon to go through both the City of London and City of Westminster; llhm.co.uk/about

⚡️Lila's story;💖
"Lila's journey was destined to be different – something we were oblivious to until Lila was around four months old when she missed key milestones. Lila was eventually diagnosed with Pitt-Hopkins (a sporadic genetic disorder) when she was around 18 months old. We were told it would cause significant cognitive delay, affect her mobility and most likely be non-verbal. Crushing news for any parent but we made sure Lila lived life to the full and didn’t miss out. Despite her struggles, she was such a beautiful and happy little girl. Lila was always smiling, clapping and flapping her arms about - she was an absolute joy to be around. Lila was mad for music and swimming - it brought out the best in her and helped incredibly with her development. Lila absolutely loved school - she literally tripped over her own feet to sit in her wheelchair and make it onto the school bus. Lila would light up a room with her infectious laugh and electrifying smile. She had an indescribable zest for life and such a happy nature that was admired by all. Her unexpected and tragic passing has been deeply upsetting for her family and friends. Lila really was the girl that made the world smile, and her legacy will live on forever. We are so proud of everything Lila achieved in her all too short life."
