Running My First Marathon in Memory of My Mum and Supporting Women’s Aid

Cleo Lowe is raising money for Women's Aid

My story

This April, I will be running my very first marathon (?!!)—the London Marathon—in memory of my exceptional mum.

I am choosing to raise money for Women’s Aid, an amazing charity that focuses on providing resources for domestic abuse survivors - including shelters and a 24-hour helpline - while also advocating for systemic change. Women's Aid is well-regarded for its efficient allocation of donations toward victim support services.

Every step of this marathon is both for my Mum and the women and families this charity supports.

So, please consider donating to support Women’s Aid’s mission! Your support—big or small—means the world to me and will make a genuine impact in their lives.

Thank you so much for helping me make a difference, and for supporting me in honouring my Mum's legacy😊

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Women's Aid.

My updates

Little 5k today to see how things were feeling….and it felt great!! I’ve missed running so much, especially with Mika grinning at me the whole time wanting to race 🥹 27th is gonna be just fine.

These shin packs are genius! Excuse my room - spot all the running memorabilia! Have been wearing compression socks everyday and practicing RICE due to shin splints😭The next two weeks were for tapering back anyway - not that I have a choice - saw physio on Tues and he’s not so keen on me running at all! There is no way that is happening so I have to be really careful until the 27th. Just bike and walking. As long I make it to marathon day and get over the finish line I will be happy. 🪽✨🦋

3 weeks until the big day!
Have managed 4.5hrs of the bike this weekend (I want to do MORE but need to take it easy) & should hopefully be back running a few shorter runs next week.
Thank you again for all of the donations - almost at our target 🙏🪽

I completed a challenging 33k run over the weekend – by far the most difficult one yet. I felt fine while running, but I’ve had some knee and shin pain lingering since a 30k I did in Scotland, and this run definitely pushed things further.
In hindsight, I probably should have stopped, but I carried on and made sure to recover properly afterwards – stretching, foam rolling, icing, and an Epsom salt bath. I’m feeling okay now, but I’ll be taking extra care to avoid injury in the final few weeks.
Some runs are lovely, some are a real test. Also worth noting: my legs are black and blue, and my first thought when I saw the photo? “I look so pale.” Glad I could really focus on the achievement!

I spent most of yesterday deep-cleaning my flat in an impressive act of procrastination – amazing how productive you can be when avoiding a long training session. But with six weeks to go until marathon day, there’s no time to skip a week, so I jumped on the spin bike at 8:30 p.m… for three hours.

All donations are hugely appreciated – thank you for the support!
