Running My First Marathon in Memory of My Mum and Supporting Women’s Aid

Cleo Lowe is raising money for Women's Aid

My story

This April, I will be running my very first marathon (?!!)—the London Marathon—in memory of my exceptional mum.

I am choosing to raise money for Women’s Aid, an amazing charity that focuses on providing resources for domestic abuse survivors - including shelters and a 24-hour helpline - while also advocating for systemic change. Women's Aid is well-regarded for its efficient allocation of donations toward victim support services.

Every step of this marathon is both for my Mum and the women and families this charity supports.

So, please consider donating to support Women’s Aid’s mission! Your support—big or small—means the world to me and will make a genuine impact in their lives.

Thank you so much for helping me make a difference, and for supporting me in honouring my Mum's legacy😊

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Women's Aid.

Most horrible run yet yesterday! Stopped to powder me nose after 18k and couldn’t walk!! Felt totally fine while running but had been feeling some twinges in my knees and shins (uh ohhh) ever since my 30k in Scotland - which, looking back, was a breeze compared to this one!! Because I'm stubborn (and scared), I pushed through the pain when I probably should’ve stopped, and got 33k under my belt. Stretched, foam rolled, iced my legs, and had an Epsom salt bath last night, so I’m just about okay today, but definitely feeling it and trying to be cautious not to injure myself any further. Some runs are great, some are brutal... only to be expected, but OUCH. My legs are black and blue...and all I had to say about this pic was "I so pale"! Ha! To be socialised as a woman hey.

Spent all day cleaning yesterday avoiding my run. Amazing how much you can get done when you're avoiding a big job. 🤪
6 weeks til the big day and no time to skip a week so got on my spin bike at 8.30pm……for 3 hours 💀
All donations are so appreciated ❤️

Marathon update 🌞 ran 25k today - the furthest I’ve ever been. It was so gorgeous outside and Mika joined me for a good chunk (she did a half marathon with me last weekend no problem - limitless energy!!). As with everything in life, some runs are good runs and some runs are tough. This one was really good and not too difficult surprisingly. Whenever I start to doubt myself I think of my Mum and I keep going. One foot in front of the other. It’s all for her 🪽✨

Monday 27th January

I got an email reminding me it is 3 months exactly today until the big day! Training has been hard the past few weeks as the weather has been DESGOSTEN so I have been utilising my spin bike and racking up some hours on there! That said, I knew I couldn't put off training longer distance, so layered up yesterday and sucked it up The only thing keeping me going were the jelly snakes I'd packed in my backpack!!
