Lynne's Half Marathon Trio

My story

I've been very lucky to secure entries in three half marathons within the next year! On 26 October 2025, I'll be running in Valencia, 28 March 2026 will find me in Prague and, to finish my trio, I'm super excited to have a ballot place for The Great North Run on 13 September 2026. I started running back in 2011 to do something positive for my mental health at a time of great stress and it still gives me headspace and joy at being out in the open air. Since then, I've done quite a few half marathons but I can't remember ever attempting three within a year before! Several friends and family seem to think this will be quite an achievement, especially for someone in their 70s, so I've decided to use the opportunity to raise funds for two charities that mean a lot to me.
Festival Medical Services (FMS) provides the best possible medical care at UK events and supports health related charities making a difference around the world, including sending medical supplies to Ukraine, supporting Humanity and Inclusion (HI) with their projects in Gaza, helping to provide clean water to parts of Uganda via EAU (Equal Aqua Uganda) and supporting Clean Ascent which uses climbing activities to aid those in recovery from addiction to find a new purpose in life. I have a very long association with FMS and am proud to be a part of their Hospital Admin, First Responder and Training teams
About a year ago, I qualified as a Community First Responder with the South Western Ambulance  Service and have since met and helped a wide variety of patients in my area. South Western Ambulance Charity is currently raising funds to buy further Community Response Vehicles in the Bristol and Somerset area so that Community Responders like me can reach more patients, more quickly and with more equipment on board. Donations may also be used to fund medical kit bags, defibrillators and other equipment to support the vital work of Community First Responders like me.
All funds that I raise through this page will be split 50/50 between the two charities. Thank you for visiting my page and I hope you'll feel able to donate!
