Support to Hope Missions Ministries in Malawi

This spring Alex and Sara Millington are leading a team of volunteers from Newport Pagnell Baptist Church in a visit to Malawi to support the work of Hope Missions Ministries (HMM). Alex and Sara used to live and work in Malawi with HMM and have been supporting and visiting them for nearly 20 years. HMM work with some of the poorest communities in the world in rural areas outside the capital city of Lilongwe.

HMM began with a vision to transform rural life in Malawi by sharing the hope offered by the Gospel message and by encouraging people to come together in their communities to direct their own development. They have established six churches and five nursery schools, and development work includes: teaching adults, particularly women, to read and write; supporting families with micro-enterprise loans to start a small business; health education workshops; agricultural training programmes; youth work and support to addicts/outcasts.

Annie the Hope Missions Project Director has asked if we can support their work by bringing as many of the following items as possible. Would you consider donating to support the purchase of any of the following:

1. A blanket for each child at a nursery school we will be visiting (to be sourced locally: 65 children x approx. £6.50 = £422.50).
2. Play parachutes to enable lots of children to play at the same time (approx. £50 each, ideally x5)
3. Net balls/footballs (to be taken flat, with a pump) and children’s balls
4. Bubbles and balloons
5. Skipping ropes
6. Crayons
7. Building blocks
8. Staff polo shirts embroidered with the HMM logo x30 (they can only get very poor quality ones done locally). We estimate costs at £15-20 per shirt.

THANK YOU for any support you are able to give, it will be a big blessing to the communities we are supporting.

Funds will go to UK charity Links who are based in the UK and hold a dedicated project account for donations to the work of Hope Missions Ministries. Any surplus funds raised will go towards the general work of Hope Missions which includes feeding programmes for the nursery schools and the subsidising of nursery school teachers.
