Maria's Marathon

I’m running the Yorkshire Marathon with one of my best friends, not just for the challenge, but to raise much-needed funds for Dementia UK — a charity incredibly close to my heart.

Both of my nans have been diagnosed with dementia. One is sadly no longer with us — RIP Nanny Carol 🤍 — and my other nan, Nanny Janet, is currently in a care home, where we lose a little bit more of her every single day. Watching someone you love slowly fade is heartbreaking. It hurts like hell.

I know our family isn’t alone in this. Dementia affects so many people — patients, families, carers — and the impact is devastating. That’s why I’m running. If even a small amount of money can help fund life-changing research, provide specialist support for patients, and help families going through the same pain, then every mile will be worth it.
