Chaz Hill is raising money for MindOut LGBTQ Mental Health Service
My story
The disparities in the mental health of the LGBTQ+ community in comparison to the remainder of the population are catastrophic.
Internalised and externalised homophobia and transphobia, problems accessing healthcare and housing, and discrimination in the work place are just a handful of issues that affect the lives of our community everyday. This often leaves members of these minority groups in need of support but without the means or capacity to access it.
MindOut is a Brighton based charity that offers offers online support, peer mentoring and counselling for members of the community and individuals questioning their identity. MindOut also offers advocacy services for in mental health, housing, trans healthcare, and for those aged 50+. Due to the far reach and inclusivity of services provided by MIndOut, which as a peer mentor and volunteer I have witnessed first hand I will be running the Brighton Marathon in April 2022 to raise as much money as possible for the service.
