MJ is raising money for Alder Trust

My story

As most of you know I ran the GSR back in 2019 to raise money for the charity “BLISS” in honour of Samuel’s 18th. I was and remain to this day humbled by your generosity.

As all parents know you can’t give to one without the other and this year would have been Jacob’s 18th - so ….I’ve dragged the running shoes out of the cupboard and dusted them off and have started training once again to endure the torture of running 10 miles (I really don’t like running!) I am asking you all to find it in your hearts to dig deep for me once again but for a different charity that I believe provides invaluable and much needed support to women who sadly find themselves in a similar situation as I was.

Without boring you all with the details I struggled after losing Jacob. I was heartbroken AGAIN! But this time the guilt, anger and utter despair were harder to bare. There were dark months that followed. I was very lucky that I had a family at home that helped me through it but not everyone is that blessed and the Firgrove Project provide free counselling to those women that need it. Please do read what they are all about – loosing a baby however that trauma occurs leaves scars and not all of them heal!

Firgrove offers a compassionate and caring service for anyone over the age of 18 in the Southampton and surrounding area who is seeking help with the impact of miscarriage, stillbirth or neo-natal death, unintended pregnancy, loss to adoption or issues surrounding a termination. Please read more about them on their website: thefirgrovecentre.org.uk/
