MK Marathon

Hi All, Thanks for visiting my fundraising page :)

I have committed to running the Milton Keynes marathon on Monday 5th May 2025 to raise money for two local hospices that are very close to my heart.  I have been unfortunate enough to witness the great level of care and love that is offered by hospices to both the patient, friends and family when going through the most devastating time.

This is the first (of many hopefully) marathons I will run and I am looking forward the challenge this will bring me. Those of you who know me will know I enjoy pushing myself physically and mentally. I expect this challenge to do both!

Cynthia Spencer and Willen Hospice support the growing number of people in our community coping with the devastating impact of a life-limiting illness. They give their patients and their loved ones the highest quality, personalised care – completely free of charge. With compassion and experience, their expert teams help patients who have complex symptoms or needs to make every day the best it can be.

Only 13.8% of the running costs are met by ongoing NHS funding. This means they rely on the generosity of our supporters to help us raise around £8.7 million each year, so that they can continue to offer specialist care to the local community completely free of charge.
 • It costs them £19.23 each minute to provide the specialist care services, both in the Hospice and out in the community. 
• It costs nearly £28,000 each day to run a full range of Hospice services for local people.
 • Running the 15-bed In-Patient Unit costs more than £9,670 each day

We never know when we may need to call upon the services for the hospices for one of our own friends or family.
