BUPA London 10K to remember THE BULLET THAT ENDED IT SO SOON.

Event dates: 30th April 2009 – 31st May 2009

M T Hamzat is raising money for Saferworld

My story

The bullet that terminated the life of my elder brother made me realise the importance of having a gun-free, non-violent world.

Please give your unflinching support to the charity that 'believes that everyone should be able to lead peaceful, fulfilling lives free from insecurity and violence.' SAFERWORLD works in Africa, Asia and Europe. Its presence in Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Russia and South Eastern Europe has gone a long way in preventing and reducing violent conflicts in various communities around the world.

SAFERWORLD works to introduce and strengthen appropriate legislations for better 'control of small arms'. The joint efforts of SAFERWORLD and other organisations has brought in a substantial change in the UK legislation on arms export.

Why should we all support the effort of combating violent conflict?

It is easily discernible in the words of SAFERWORLD's former chairman, Malcolm Chalmers that: '[For] For every #1 spent on conflict prevention, the international community could save an average of #4 on the cost of peacekeeping missions, humanitarian assistance and nation-building.'

Most of the aid given to countries in crisis help alleviate the suffering that could have been prevented through prevention and reduction of violent conflicts.
