Dear supporters, Neil too. Training is not going entirely to plan as five weeks visiting New Zealand and the Antarctic has thrown a bit of a spanner into the works, but, you need to know that I shall complete this half marathon because you are supporting me. Whatever happens I shall be crossing that finish line. Now then, time for a training run.

My story
Dear friends
I'm running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday, 12 April 2026!
I've taken on this challenge to raise funds for two charities that are close to my heart:
Brooke – an incredible organisation dedicated to improving the welfare of working horses, donkeys and mules in some of the world’s poorest communities. They provide essential education, training and resources where veterinary care and equine knowledge are often limited.
The Worshipful Company of Farriers Charitable Trust (1994) – a charity that supports the farriery profession, providing grants, training opportunities, and promoting high standards in the care of equine hooves and welfare.
Your support will help motivate me through the miles and I couldn't do it without you.
Thank you so much for any donation you can give.

My updates
Due entirely to your great support I have now started my, very slow, training and am on week 2 of a 20 week training programme. I will not be issuing lots of updates but just wanted you to know that I have started. Your support has been humbling and hearing from friends that I have not seen for many years is uplifting. A big thank you for getting me started. x

Now look. I really hate to be a pessimist but has our Paula put in the time? Has our Paula put in the training? The effort? There's probably been tears, inevitably buckets of sweat, but has there been blood? Will our Paula be finishing the half marathon being pushed over the line in a wheelbarrow? Is this just an excuse to quietly scoff chocolate digestives and bakewell tarts without any guilt? I suppose we shall just have to hope and pray that she will indeed make us proud ...

Paula was a good runner, and prompted by her love of horses this charity has inspired her to run her fourth half-marathon. I'm as proud of her as ever after 31 years.
