Noonkodin School Meal Appeal

Event dates: 1st January 2010 – 31st December 2015

Gemma Enolengila is raising money for African Flame

My story

We're raising money for Noonkodin Secondary School, a co-educational day and boarding school in a remote Maasai village in Tanzania, serving almost 200 young people between the ages of 14 and 21. With the current drought in East Africa, funds are urgently needed to ensure that students can carry on receiving three nutritious meals a day.

Farmers throughout Tanzania have been brainwashed into relying on maize and beans as their staple crops, but Serian UK wants to invest in small-scale field trials of indigenous crops such as sorghum, millet and cassava, which are less sensitive to drought and could provide better food security. We also want to find ways of making the school economy more diverse, e.g. by producing and selling soap, essential oils, books, CDs and handicrafts, and to build rainwater harvesting tanks so that we never have to pay for water again. Please give whatever you can afford.
