Northern Trains are raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association
In 2025, Northern began a charity partnership with the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, with a goal of raising £70,000 for the charity.
Thanks to the incredible efforts of our colleagues, customers and partners, we've already raised more than £23,000 through fundraising activities and donations - including a huge £15,000 donation from Eversholt Rail!
From train wraps and station collections, to physical challenges and open day fundraisers, our people have come together to make a real difference.
MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing condition that affects the brain and spinal cord, and there is currently no cure. By donating, you're helping fund essential research, care and support for people living with MND and their families.

70 in 7 over 7
As part of Northern’s 7 weeks of summer 2025 challenge, colleagues from across Northern came together to complete 70 miles, in 7 walks, over 7 weeks.
A massive thank you to everyone who took part, covering huge distances across our Northern network and raising vital funds for the MND Association.

Challenge the Directors: Final Results
Last summer, colleagues across Northern took on the ultimate step challenge: Challenge the Directors.
Colleagues clocked up an incredible 120,670,227 steps, raised £2,567 for the MND Association, and four teams beat the Director team.
Huge congratulations to the Piccadilly Pacers, who topped both the step and fundraising leaderboards, and a massive thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the challenge such a success.
