Our story

Olav was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia at the age of 89 which gradually affected his memory and then his cognitive abilities over the following years. He received support and care from those around him and in the early days was fully aware of the effects it was having on him - always willing to share this, help others to cope and aid future research into this increasingly common condition. At the later stages, the Rainbow Care group provided a day centre for him in a rural setting in Sicklinghall, run by expert carers where he was engaged in activities that he could connect with and enjoy. We are grateful for the care he received and thank you for your donation to The Rainbow Group as well as Alzeheimer's Research to help find a prevention or cure for this devastating condition.
Please note the Rainbow Group is not a charity but a Community Interest Company - so Gift Aid will not be applied to any donation. The group are going to put together any donations they do receive to purchase a piece of equipment or resources that would enhance the care at their day centre for those affected by Dementia.
