Well done on Manchester and good luck for London - if it helps you run faster, there'll be booze at the finish line x

One last hurrah? Rich runs a marathon or two

Richard Bond McNally is raising money for The Lord's Taverners

My story

I don't normally fundraise for running, but I figure this is enough of a challenge for me to get the bowl out. Also, I suspect that this will be my last attempt at a marathon :-)

Ten years ago I was pretty happy to finish the Manchester Marathon in under 4 hours. Three years later, we were all told that the course had been short and our times were invalid. This has annoyed me ever since, and the only way I'm going to get over it is by doing it again, but this time on a marathon course that's the right length! The extra challenge I've set myself is to do it twice on consecutive weekends.

Firstly, I'll be doing the Manchester Marathon on April 16th, then a week later I'll be running the London Marathon on April 23rd.

Inspired by The Final Word podcast, I'm raising money for The Lord's Taverners who help marginalised young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged communities through sport.

Among other things, they fund school minibuses, sensory rooms and kids' wheelchairs. They run sport programmes for kids with learning and physical disabilities, as well as for kids from deprived areas and from hard-to-reach groups like refugees, young offenders and excluded pupils.

They give kids social and sporting opportunities that they wouldn't otherwise get to experience, and they need funding to keep on doing it.

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto The Lord's Taverners.
