Rev. Patrick Evans’ Retirement Charity Bike Ride
Jerez to Santiago de Compostela via the Portuguese Camino
Starting September 8, 2026 | 682 Miles | 18,862 Feet of Ascent

To mark my retirement after 13 years of ministry as a Methodist Minister in Southport, I am embarking on a major cycling challenge. With the fantastic support of my cycling buddy, Craig, we will pedal from Jerez to Seville in southern Spain, head west to the Portuguese capital of Lisbon, and then journey north along the Portuguese Camino through Porto, finally arriving in Santiago de Compostela.

Supporting Two Vital Local Charities
In lieu of a traditional leaving gift, I invite you to support two incredible local charities. Throughout my ministry, I have witnessed firsthand the profound care, compassion, and support they provide to those most in need within our community:

• Compassion Acts: A Southport-based charity dedicated to reducing poverty and improving social wellbeing across Southport and the surrounding areas. They provide crucial support to individuals and families through local foodbanks, food pantries, money advice, and welfare support.

• Queenscourt Hospice: An exceptional organisation providing specialist palliative care for patients across West Lancashire, Formby, and Southport. They enable those with serious illnesses to achieve the best possible quality of life, offering dedicated care both at the hospice and in patients' homes.
