Ndi Moyo Palliative Care Centre, Malawi

Kathryn and Peter Hamling are now in Malawi having started their two year volunteering positions at Ndi Moyo Palliative Care Centre, Salima, as VMM Clinical Director and Operations Director respectively. Ndi Moyo, meaning the place giving life, is the only centre of it's type in Malawi. It cares for those with advanced cancer and other life-limiting illnesses providing pain relief and symptom management as well as care for the very vulnerable children of it's patients. Founded by Lucy Finch, a Malawian Nurse trained in the UK the centre has been in operation since 2006 and cared for over 600 patients in that time. The work the centre does has been inspirational amidst a backdrop of overwhelming poverty and advanced disease. Their hope is that support from their friends and family will continue during their time in Malawi. Your help is so needed. Xxx
