Pett Polar Bear Challenge

Event dates: 19th December 2021 – 31st March 2022

Lucy Hogg is raising money for Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat

My story

I have always loved swimming and this year started swimming in the sea as often as possible. During the summer swimming was all about the challenge of distance for me and I was keen to continue over the winter months and then I heard about the Polar Bear Challenge. This is a challenge that people sign up to all over the world. I have signed up for the Polar Bear Gold which is swimming in just swim suit from 1 November to 31 March - I have to complete 1000m a month and two of the swims have to be a distance of 250m. When the challenge started in November it was 15 degrees and now in December is 7.5 degrees!

I signed up for a personal challenge but I'd also like to raise money for a very special local charity - Pett Level Rescue Boat. I swim just off their slip and they do such as an amazing job and its all run by volunteers.

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat.

My updates

Monday 28th March 2022

Well I've done my final swim of the challenge and in total I have swum over 7 miles since 1st November in temperatures down to 5.5 degrees! There's still time to sponsor me.

Saturday 12th March 2022

So I'm nearly there - March is nearly done and the weather and waters are warmer :-)
