Phill Burton is raising money for Circus Eruption and Greenpeace Environmental Trust
Over the next year, ending August 2026, I will be celebrating my 70 years on this planet by raising as much money as I can for 2 charities: Greenpeace and Circus Eruption. In exchange for your sponsorship, I will be swimming 70 km (at least) in the sea, rivers, lakes, ponds and pools – as much as possible wild, fresh (ish) or salty water, possibly chlorinated or sewered. I will be swimming, where possible, with old and new friends, probably towing a rubber duck. There will be no hand puppets involved.

Also on 2nd August 2025 I will be gathering friends together in Swansea celebrating on a beach and having a mass swim/paddle as part of the day – more details on that later but please save the date if you’d like to join me.

The last 2 kilometres completed in Pembrokeshire on 10th and 11th July!
0.5km - out to the jellyfish and back at Broad Haven South with Carol
1km the next morning - swimming out to Church Rock from the same beach; flat calm, less troubled by jelly fish.
The final 0.5 km of the 70 was with Bim Mason and Carol in Angle, across to the jetty at high tide and back via Bim's buoys!
A glorious half kilometre on 3rd July in the Glynde Community Swimming Pool - we had a Secret Swim before we got stuck into the music at Love Supreme Festival!
Only 2km to go to reach 70!
How could I forget to mention that I swam at least half a kilometer on a trip to Tenby on 4th May with my lovely sister Kathy. She paddled and I swam round the big rock! Calm seas and the occasional shower!
2 more kilometres swum, three to go to reach my target!
Sauna and swims in Langland Bay on Sunday 21st June. Hot day, hot sauna, beautiful refreshing swims with Barney and the Sweaty Brothers. Half a km out and back.
Weymouth on 23rd June with my nephew Jon Shock and his wife Stella. Another half kilometre, in very shallow, very flat sea on a very hot day!
Friday 26th June from Rotherslade, across Langland Bay and back again; a more serious swim with Rhian, with tow floats and swim hats. Definitely at least a kilometre!

1st June, 0.5km off Brighton Beach and then on 2nd, a 1km swim in Saltdean Lido honouring the memory of my friend Emilia who invited me to swim there with her.
This very special swim took me to 65km.
