We’re doing a skydive… yes, really 😅

My sister Olivia and I are jumping out of a plane to raise awareness and support for something that has deeply affected our family.

We’re usually quite private about personal circumstances, but recent events have made us realise how important it is to speak up.

In 2008, our mum was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. In 2014, she was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, and in 2022, skin cancer. After years of what felt like relentless bad luck, we finally got some answers in 2024. Our mum was found to carry a rare genetic mutation called Li-Fraumeni Syndrome, caused by a TP53 gene mutation. This condition dramatically increases the lifetime risk of cancer, up to 90% for women and 70% for men.

Sadly, this mutation has also been passed to my sister Olivia and our brother Findlay. There is currently no cure, so they (along with our mum) undergo regular, intensive screenings every year to catch any cancers as early as possible.

Following this diagnosis, our mum went through further checks and was heartbreakingly diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, which has also spread to her lymph nodes, bones, and more recently her liver, spinal cord, and brain.

That’s why we’re taking on this challenge.
We’re raising money for The George Pantziarka TP53 Trust, the UK’s only charity dedicated to supporting families affected by Li-Fraumeni Syndrome. They provide vital support, share information for both patients and medical professionals, and fund research that could change the future for families like ours.

More than anything, this is about awareness.

Li-Fraumeni Syndrome is rare and not widely understood, and we believe more people need to know about it. Greater awareness can lead to earlier diagnoses, better support, and more research.
