Our story
Race to the Marina is a multi-discipline Scout challenge event and part of the 2028 centenary programme for 2nd Beeston Sea Scouts. It takes place on the morning of 20 June 2026 following an overnight camp on Barton Island.

Pairs of Scouts will kayak 1,500m from Barton Island to Beeston Marina,

Complete a scavenger hunt along the Attenborough Nature Reserve pathway, then
-
Complete a SUP self-rescue stage back to the island.
All funds raised go toward:
- Walesby Challenge 2026 (26–28 June) — multi-activity adventure camp in Nottinghamshire
- Lilac Grove HQ New Build — a permanent new headquarters for all 90+ members, supporting the group’s 2028 centenary programme

Entry requirement: Each team (pair of Scouts) must raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship to qualify for the race. Sponsorship must come from friends, family, and businesses.
