Amy Henson is raising money for VHL UK/Ireland
Completing one 10k obstacle course wasn't enough so we have decided to enter another! We're (almost) prepared to suffer by challenging ourselves in the 10K obstacle course called "The Suffering" which certainly lives up to it's name. All for a good cause, we are doing this to raise money and awareness for VHL UK/Ireland, a charity close to our hearts.
The VHL gene effects 1 in 32,000 people. Approx 10,000 people in the United States and 200,000 worldwide - several of those people being a family very close to my heart.
Sites at risk include: kidney, retina, spinal cord, brain, pancreas, adrenal gland and inner ear. Studies of the VHL gene have resulted in approval of multiple cancer drugs. Particularly in the case of the kidney and pancreas, if not treated correctly, tumours can advance to malignant forms of cancer. Currently there is no approval of drugs for treating VHL. Curing Von-Hippel Lindau brings us one step closer to curing many forms of cancer.
Our target really isn't that much so we appreciate all the sponsors/support/shares/likes to help us get through!
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto VHL UK/Ireland.
