Our story

On Easter Monday, the 6th April, Rags and friends will be setting off on a 5K seaside walk along the Thames Estuary to raise money for Christian Hope International.

The walk has been organised by Pam, who will be walking alongside her dog Rags and her grandchildren Darcy, Ellis, Ollie and Fern as a family group along the seafront. Joining them will be some enthusiastic four legged walkers too: Remi, Freddie, Bella and Piper.

Further afield, Pam’s daughter Michelle will also be taking part from Hilversum in the Netherlands alongside her partner Steve.

Supporting Christian Hope International has long been part of our family tradition. For many years Pam organised an annual jumble sale each February to raise money for the charity. While the jumble sale has now come to an end, we still want to continue supporting the charity and raising funds in new ways.

This year we are doing that through this sponsored walk, along with a small craft sale taking place later in April at Wesley Church, Elm Road, The Broadway, Leigh on Sea.
Christian Hope International works with churches and communities in countries such as Rwanda and Uganda, supporting vulnerable children and families through education, child sponsorship, and practical community projects that help people build sustainable livelihoods and break the cycle of poverty.

Supporting this charity has meant a lot to our family over the years and we would love to continue that tradition by raising as much as we can through this walk.

If you would like to join us, we will be starting at 10:00am from the White Shelter in Chalkwell, walking along the seafront to Adventure Island in Southend and back. You are very welcome to walk with us or take part wherever you are, near or far.

If you are able to support the walk, any donation big or small would be hugely appreciated. Donations can also be made in person to Pam, or at Wesley Church where donation forms will be available.
