Our story

In April, members of the FSi Promat team will take on a 13.5-mile walk from Bakewell to Buxton.

The route covers a mix of terrain—on- and off-road paths—with both flat stretches and challenging hills. We’re walking to raise funds for two charities that mean a great deal to us:

RNIB – Royal National Institute of Blind People
The UK’s leading sight loss charity, RNIB offers vital practical and emotional support to blind and partially sighted people, as well as their families and carers.

"The RNIB is a fantastic charity that provides advice and visual assistance equipment for people living with visual impairment and sight loss. Since birth, I have been registered partially sighted and have nystagmus—an involuntary eye movement—so this charity is very close to my heart. Although I haven’t personally used RNIB’s services, I know how crucial they are in helping people with visual impairments break down barriers and enjoy as similar a quality of life as possible to those who are fully sighted."
Luke Worrall, Transport and Production Administrator at FSi Promat

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham
This charity is dedicated to supporting patients, families, and staff at the hospital, funding research, equipment, and facilities to improve lives.

"Back in February 2025, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour—a huge shock for someone who has always been active, healthy, and never faced surgery before. The tumour was growing at a considerable rate, and I had no choice but to undergo surgery in March. The support I received was second to none—from helping me mentally process what was happening, to caring for me after surgery and helping me come to terms with the physical changes. These people changed my life, and walking 13.5 miles to raise money for them is the least I can do."
Heidi Poole, Transport Controller at FSi Promat
