For Dad

Mike's 24 hour Memory Walk starting on Saturday 30th September at 9am.
I have always wondered how far I can walk in a 24 hour period so here's one way to find out and hopefully raise funds for 2 fantastic charities.
I will be setting off from Flordon, Birch Green, Skelmersdale and will be returning back to Flordon 24 hours later.
All money raised will go directly to both charities.
Dad/Grandad Homer/Uncle Gordon was a big man, a strong man and a proud man who would always be there whenever needed by anyone be they family or friends.
He loved his sport and more importantly to him he loved to talk, as anyone who knew him would most definitely agree.
Out of all of the medical issues he had Dementia had the greatest impact on his day to day life. The frustration on his face as he started to struggle to articulate his words and the loss of his independent took it's toll on him. If it was heartbreaking for us to see how did he feel?
Thankfully we had some amazing help from so many people's and so many different organisations.
After a visit from Helen from Age UK Lancashire Dad started attending a weekly social event for people with Dementia. He loved going and for as long as they continued he never missed a single week. We couldn't put into words the difference this made to him and cannot thank them enough for giving us our Dad back for the 12 weeks it ran. To see his enjoyment, his enthusiasm, his laughter and most importantly his voice, he never stopped talking about his time there and to see this and hear him was priceless.
We need to do everything possible to help everyone with Dementia, all of their families and friend's. Most importantly we need a cure to this life changing illness.
Can you please help me to help these two amazing charities who mean so much to me and my family.
