Richard's Big Bike Ride

Event dates: 30th August 2023 – 12th September 2023

Richard Ward is raising money for Tatwa-Maahe Educational Trust

My story

I will be cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for the Tatwa Maahe Educational Trust which supports girls’ education in Kuria, a remote rural area of Kenya. The ride will take place, self-supported, over two weeks, covering 1000 miles and climbing the equivalent of nearly two Mount Everests.
The Tatwa Maahe Educational Trust's priority is to provide bursaries for secondary school fees to enable girls to complete their education: something many of us in the UK take for granted. The Tatwa Maahe Educational Trust (TMET) is a collaborative venture working in partnership with local self-help groups who nominate the girls most in need. This cause is close to my heart as the charity was set up by my father-in-law and a colleague of his who worked in Kuria and believed that educating girls has a transformational value that goes beyond the education of an individual.
TMET is run by volunteers so 98% of your contribution will go to Kenya. Every little counts and all donations are welcome.
To find out more about Tatwa Maahe, check out the TMET website at tmetafrica.org.
