Lewis Matthews is raising money for Somewhere House Somerset

My story

On January 3rd 2020 Lewis Matthews and his support crew Jill Male and Phil Martin will travel to New Zealand to take on its awe inspiring Te Araroa Trail, a 3000km trail stretching the length of the country. The trail starts in Cape Reinga at the top of New Zealand, it then works its way down the country along tropical beaches, through thick rainforest, over mountains and active volcanoes before reaching the final destination of Bluff at the bottom of the South Island.

Lewis aims to complete the trail in record time. The record currently stands at 53 days so the team have a busy schedule ahead to cover 60km per day (1 and a half marathons a day!).

Why?
Reason One - To raise money and awareness for the brilliant Somewhere House Somerset. A local charity that provides support and help for those who need it within the community. Somewhere House Somerset provide fantastic services including low cost counselling, educational workshops and community projects with a professional and flexible approach. Help should be available to anyone who needs it and that is exactly what this amazing charity does.

Reason Two - To inspire self belief, mental fortitude and proactivity in those that follow this adventure. Characteristics we believe everyone can possess in order to reach their potential. We all have to potential to be great at something in our lives and these characteristics can help us all to attain it.
