Kicking things off! Great work Anna! And Noah x
Anna Smith is raising money for Narcolepsy UK
I didn’t know much about narcolepsy until an awful day in 2018, when a paediatrician suggested this might be what Noah was living with. In some ways, it was a relief to finally have an explanation—why our once high-energy, bubbly 8-year-old had started falling asleep at school, during meals, and even standing up on the tube.
But learning there was no cure, and that his life would be about managing symptoms, was a huge shock and adjustment for us all.
Eight years on, we are so grateful to the wonderful team at Narcolepsy UK. They have supported us with information, helped educate Noah’s school, and quietly but persistently advocated for people living with this condition.
Training for this marathon has been tough. But every time I feel tired or think I can’t go on, I think of Noah—who has to push through every single day.
He is incredibly lucky to have friends who understand: who give him a gentle nudge in maths when he falls asleep, and who accept that a trip to the cinema will probably include a nap. That kind of understanding makes a huge difference.
I’m raising money to support Narcolepsy UK and the vital work they do. If you’re not able to donate, please take a moment to learn more about narcolepsy—because an informed teacher, employer, friend or partner can truly change someone’s life.
And if you can donate, thank you—it will help me drag my creaky legs around those 26 miles!
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Narcolepsy UK.
