Saddleworth PWSF-Palestine Stories

Saddleworth Palestine Women's Scholarship Fund are raising money for Sheffield Palestine Women's Scholarship Fund (Charity No:1133499). Our fund raising enables women in Palestine to access university education in Gaza and the West Bank. Last year the fund supported 62 women, studying a wide range of subjects. Higher Education for women, with their key family and community roles, is vitally important both for them and for the long-term future of their communities.

Despite the horrific events in Gaza in recent months we are continuing to raise funds for Palestinian women's education. We will hold these funds until it becomes clearer what education support is needed in Gaza and in the West Bank.

Education has always been important to the Palestinian people and the Scholarship Fund remains a wonderful way to show our solidarity with Palestinian women who dream of a university education. However, with the destruction of schools and universities in Gaza and the closure of universities in the West Bank it is not currently clear what the next steps will be. We will be informed about future needs by our committees in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
