Sarah Pritchard is raising money for LightAware (Scotland)
For many years I've set myself various physical challenges and always completed them, sometimes raising money and awareness for charities. These challenges have always been fairly short in time frame (a single event or lasting a few months). They have always focused on both physical and mental fitness and strength.
This year I decided to set myself the ultimate challenge... to run consistently for 1 year, covering a total distance of 1000km (which equates to 621 miles). Physically, it's a massive undertaking for me, but the biggest challenge is my mental strength. Can I run consistently long distances daily several times a week throughout an entire year regardless of weather, life challenges, physical ailments and continual mental fluctuations I experience daily with Cyclothymia? Now THAT is a challenge!
The much deserving charity I am hoping to raise funds and awareness for is LightAware, a charity for people with sensitivity to artificial light.
LightAware's charitable objectives are:
To raise awareness about the effects of artificial lighting on human health and wellbeing.
To stimulate discussion and investigation into the effects of artificial lighting on human health and wellbeing.
The promotion of equality and diversity through encouraging provision of access to civic life for those excluded by sensitivity to artificial lighting.
In order for the charity to continue to help support sufferers of light sensitivity and do vital campaigning work they need funds. A donation, however small will help LightAware greatly.
You can learn more about the vital work LightAware does by visiting the website lightaware.org/ and if you'd like to become a member, you can join here: lightaware.org/get-involved/membership
Thank you all, wish me luck and energy for my last push to hopefully complete my mega challenge!

First run in 11 days since my unfortunate bout of covid leaving me feeling very weak. Managed to pull it out the bag though… I’m determined to complete this challenge!

Another 7.5km (4.6 miles) in the legs this morning before work in the pouring rain… it’s getting harder to run now, my body is tired… but need to keep going. Only 57 km left to go…

So far, my 'running' total after this mornings run in beautiful crisp winter weather is...
935 km (which equates to 581 miles)!
'Only' another 65 km left to run by Christmas Eve!
