Sarah's 60th Birthday Fundraiser

Turning 60 on 1st November seems a major milestone but I am very grateful for all the blessings which have come my way during this time. So to mark the moment I have created a birthday fundraiser in aid of Embracing Age, the charity with which I am involved...
 
You may know that Mum died in January after several years with Alzheimer’s like Dad. Having cared for both parents in their later years it seemed a natural progression to take on the co-ordinator role of Carers Connected which is run by the Christian charity, Embracing Age. I love my job which involves running our online Christian carers’ zoom groups and issuing an encouraging Weekly Message.
 
But Embracing Age does so much more than this! Sadly care home residents are twice as likely as older people living in the community to feel severely lonely. So, Embracing Age mobilises volunteers to bring regular joy and companionship to residents as trained befrienders. It has made a massive impact on older care home residents supported through its various projects, like Jean who said her volunteer befriender had "absolutely transformed my life".
