Save Lambeth Walk and Green from highrise development

savelambethwalk.org are raising money for Waterloo Community Development Group

Our story

Lambeth Council through their wholly owned company Homes for Lambeth are proposing a high rise development on the Denby Court site following the eviction of temporary residents and closure of a community centre. It is proposed that in addition to replacing about 40 existing units some 78 private and 22 shared ownership flats will be built largely in 10 and 11 story blocks. The height and massing is out of scale to the historic Lambeth Walk Conservation Area, will block light to local residents and put the park in shade especially on summer evenings depriving local families with no private open space of a place to relax in the sun. There is an alternative that meets the housing need without the damage to existing residents, public amenity and heritage.
