Nina Haden is raising money for South Staffordshire First Responders
Community First Responders are West Midlands Ambulance Service trained volunteers who respond to 999 calls in the villages of South Staffordshire.
Once trained responders can be sent to critically injured or sick people who require emergency medical treatment prior to an ambulance arriving. All responders carry a full medical kit including oxygen and an AED (automated external defibrillator).
If a Community First Responder is available and a 999 call is received within a '7 minute' travelling time of their address, the ambulance service may pass the details of the case and ask them to respond.
For many injuries and illnesses the first few minutes are critical and simple interventions can be performed in order to save lives or prevent disability.
We have experienced first hand the amazing work that these volunteers do and can never say thank you enough for helping to save our Mom's life when she suffered a cardiac arrest and was at her most in need earlier this year.
We are trying to raise funds for this vital charity that serves our local community by hiking the Tour de Trigs (30 miles) on 5th December 2015.
As a registered charity South Staffordshire First Responders are entirely reliant on charitable funds and are continually fundraising and seeking donations to ensure each responder is equipped with necessary training, equipment and a vehicle to respond to their emergency calls.
The Tour de Trigs is described as the toughest non-stop cross country navigation exercise in and around North Oxfordshire, South Warwickshire and Northamptonshire.
We are taking part as the group 'Second Chance'. Nick, Jane and Nina would very much appreciate your support and sponsorship for this challenge to raise funds for our chosen charity.
We will be eternally grateful to Geoff & Eta, Matt and Andy!
