My story
In 3 years, since forming, a[25] has been changing lives. We design and build schools, homes, hospitals, bridges and rebuild lives. a[25] promotes dignified, adequate shelter as a fundamental human right. This ideal is enshrined in the 25th article of the United Declaration of Human Rights, after which we are named. We are an organisation of dedicated architects, engineers and other built environment professionals, giving skills to those most in need. We partner aid agencies, charities and communities who need expertise to take on a built solution and win
a[25] was registered in January 2006 and is the UK’s first and only operational humanitarian architecture. Charity founding Trustees include Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) President Sunand Prasad, and Lord Norman Foster. Our President is past RIBA President, Maxwell Hutchinson, and our Chairman Jack Pringle is also a past RIBA president.
Accomplishments:
In 3 years, since forming, a[25] has been changing lives. a[25] has already put about £1,500,000 value of professional expertise on the ground where it is most needed, making funds for built projects go further. a[25] are currently working projects in Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Pakistan and India, with projects concluded in Lesotho, Romania, Ghana, India, Afghanistan, Kenya, and Tanzania.
