Shelter & Maundy Relief

On Friday 23rd October 2026 we are coming together for the very first Big Accrington Sleep Out. A special night bringing people together to raise vital funds to support Maundy Relief and Shelter, supporting people experiencing homelessness in our local community.

We are marking World Homelessness Day in October by sleeping out under the night sky of Lancashire at Accrington Stanley. 

It might not be the comfiest night’s sleep we've ever had, but it will be one of the most meaningful.

Every pound raised will be split 50/50 with Maundy Relief and Shelter to support people experiencing homelessness and make sure no one faces homelessness alone.

HOMELESSNESS ISN'T SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEM. It is happening here in our communities, affecting people from all walks of life. Shelter Lancashire and Maundy Relief are coming together because we believe no one should face homelessness alone.

As charities supporting those experiencing homelessness, we recognise that this event touches on experiences of homelessness that are complex and deeply personal. Whilst sleeping out at Accrington Stanley F.C. cannot replicate the realities faced by people experiencing homelessness, the aim of this event is to build understanding, encourage reflection, and raise vital funds in a respectful way. We're simply bringing people together for an evening of community, awareness, entertainment and fundraising before settling down for the night.
