I’m incredibly honoured (and a little terrified!) to announce that I’ve been chosen as a contestant for Shelter’s inaugural "Strictly Goes Dirty Dancing" event in Birmingham! 💃🕺
This isn’t just about glitter, dance steps, and sequins, it’s about something much deeper. I’m stepping WAY outside of my comfort zone to raise money for Shelter, a charity that supports people facing homelessness.
Why am I doing this?
Because behind every smile on the dancefloor is a harsh reality I can’t ignore: so many people, families, children, individuals, are trapped in housing crises. Some are living in damp, unsafe homes. Others are on the brink of eviction. And far too many are already homeless, with nowhere to turn. I’ve seen how fragile housing security can be. Whether it’s a sudden job loss, a family breakdown, or a rent increase you just can’t afford, it can happen to anyone. And once you're on that edge, it’s terrifying how quickly things can spiral.
Shelter is there for people in those darkest moments.
Their team offers free, expert support and fights tirelessly for long-term change, pushing for policies that give everyone a safe place to call home. But they can't do it alone. That’s where I (and you!) come in.
I will be training hard (yes, even the lifts 😳) and will be performing live in front of an audience and a panel of judges — all in hopes of raising vital funds to support Shelter’s life-changing work.
