I’m running the Leeds Marathon to raise money for the 4ED Foundation, a charity that supports families affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Over 20 years ago, my dad was diagnosed with MND. He fought it for two years before he passed away. It’s a devastating disease — one that still has no cure and remains underfunded. When families receive that diagnosis, their lives are turned upside down overnight.

That’s where 4ED steps in. They provide fast, practical support — funding things such as home adaptations, specialist equipment, or helping families create meaningful memories through trips and experiences, and maintaining independence through technology and transport.

The 4ED Foundation was established in July 2022 following the diagnosis of former professional rugby player Ed Slater, who played for both Gloucester Rugby and Leicester Tigers. I've been fortunate to get to know Ed, Jo and their children over the past two years. They are incredible and im proud to run for them and all those battling MND.

4ED also provides breakfast events for anyone affected by MND to meet, connect, just talk, share challenges and help each other. Guest speakers give advice and insight into practical support and counselling. Whilst MND remains one of the most cruel and debilitating diseases, the breakfast events are filled with friendships, care and inspiring strength from all that attend- true warriors!

Training has been going well, and I’m steadily getting the miles in… but the real challenge will be getting myself over that finish line. That’s where I’d really appreciate your support.
